#3
Include an educational component to your event. Host a speaker and open it to the entire campus. Distribute literature and other resources to educate the campus community about your cause. Make sure all chapter members can speak intelligently about the cause (the Philanthropy Chairman can’t talk to every donor).
#2
Thank your donors within 24 hours. And mean it. Building an enduring, successful philanthropy event relies on building a donor base. Every donor—even the Commander’s great aunt who wrote a check for $5—should receive a hand-written thank you note within a few days. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just a sentence or two expressing your gratitude on behalf of the chapter.
